IREX UPDATES

DESIGN DAY CHALLENGE ANNOUNCEMENT September – December 2018

IREX is pleased to announce the Fall 2018 Design Day Challenge! Design Day is an academic learning experience that better equips your students for the world of work. During a Design Day project cycle, students are provided with real-world problems facing local industry. They work in teams applying the theory learned in their coursework to design solutions to the problem.

Design Day provides hands-on, real word experience, and builds and strengthens connections between Career Development Centers, university students and faculty, and industry. Student teams will work with a faculty supervisor and CDC staff who provide technical guidance and coaching throughout the development of design projects. Students present their design solutions and are judged by industry representatives. Five projects will be selected to showcase during a Design Day Showcase at the Workforce Development Conference in Baghdad in December 2018. All IREX partner-university CDCs are eligible to participate in the Challenge!

Training will cover the following topics: Partnership Involvement, Engaging Industry, Financing your Design Day, Showcase Ceremony (university level and at the conference)

Opportunity to Participate:

Design Day Showcase at Workforce Development Conference IREX and the MOHESR are hosting a 2-day workforce development conference on December 12-13, 2018. The primary goal of the conference is to promote industry-university collaboration to strengthen workforce development in Iraq. Those universities who successfully complete the Design Day Challenge by November 2018 will be eligible for participation in the Design Day Showcase at the conference. Universities will be selected on a competitive basis. More information to be provided during the training on September 20, 2018.
